Conagra Production Line Lead - 1st Shift in Hagerstown, Maryland

Job Summary

  • Leads overall continuous improvement of Line Level metrics across multiple shifts.

  • Accountable for line-level performance on a 24/7 basis.

  • Develops line-level tactical gap-to-goal plans as well as mid-range strategic plans.

  • Drives overall line performance though the implementation of continuous improvement processes and development of a zero-loss culture.

  • Builds capability across hourly and salaried teams with regards to Reliability Technology.

  • Leads team members to identify, manage, and execute the plants process improvement opportunities.

  • Manages production staff to attain production and quality goals.

  • Identifies problems or bottlenecks in production processes and resolves issues.

  • Ensures production resources including materials, equipment and human resources are available as needed to maintain production schedules.

  • Supports continuous improvement goals in safety, quality, cost, and customer service.

  • Responsible for managing and owning various functions of the business and creating an engaged and team-oriented work force to improve business results.

  • Develops a strong working relationship with line structure team (line lead, process lead, maintenance lead)

  • Develop secession plan and coverage plan in event of this person absence

Position Responsibilities

  • Acts as a primary resource for line-level production teams across multiple shifts to drive CPS and world class results in the areas of Safety, Quality, Cost, Productivity, Delivery, and Engagement.

  • Manages production and maintenance activities across multiple shifts to meet plant goals efficiently and effectively

  • Leads and engages team members to improve systems, processes, and procedures

  • Leads by example and demonstrates corporate and plant values – leads Daily Direction Setting meetings and weekly/monthly meetings

  • Maintains team’s adherence to employee handbook, GMP s and other plant policies and procedures

  • Coaches team in personal accountability, giving and receiving feedback, root cause analysis, problem solving, decision making, trade-off analysis, interpersonal communications, and external interactions

  • Troubleshoots problems and implements corrective actions through root cause analysis

  • Seeks and provides resources for team and provides necessary training that will assist the team in reaching its goals

  • Conducts frequent Safety coaching and leads implementation of safe work practices

  • Leads and/or actively participates in Focused Improvement Teams to improve Safety, Quality, Service and Cost

  • Leads team in tracking and understanding Key Performance Indicators, Gap Analysis, and creating action plans to address performance gaps

  • Actively reinforces key CPS concepts every day through coaching and auditing of team members

  • Provides frequent informal and periodic formal job performance feedback to team

  • Facilitates and reacts to non-routine and crisis situations

  • Responds to and utilizes communication tools (i. e. cell phones, computers, pre shift meetings)

  • Provides scheduled personnel coverage for vacations, personal holidays, and for other crews

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum three (3) years successfully leading high performance teams and engaging team members to improve business results including employee hiring and retention, training and development, performance reviews and discipline

  • Working knowledge of production equipment and systems including maintenance activities.

  • Plant manufacturing experience - Experience in a food production/packaging environment, preferred

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

  • Knowledge of SAP preferred

  • Team leadership skills and project management proficiency

  • Self-motivated and ability to work with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects/tasks simultaneously.

  • Ability to work as a member of and/or lead cross-functional teams.

  • Ability to manage and prioritize one’s own time consistent with the needs of the business

  • Ability to perform formal root cause analysis to identify and resolve downtime/inefficient operational issues

  • Excellent communication skills including oral, written, and listening

  • Ability to think ahead and plan over an extended time period and prepare action plans to achieve results

  • Project Management experience, preferred Knowledge of TPM, Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing techniques, preferred Knowledge of FDA and USDA policies and procedures, preferred

  • Physical Requirements Position works in a manufacturing environment.

  • Job incumbent must be able to work in areas that are hot or cold, surfaces may be slippery, climb ladders / stairs

  • Training and improvement initiatives may require candidate to travel via automobile or aircraft.

  • Line Lead must be able to work flexible hours depending on support and business needs.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Education

  • Undergraduate degree in any related field (Engineering; Industrial; Business.), preferred.

  • Bachelor of Science in Business Administration or in any related field will be given greater weight in selection.

Supervisory Responsibilites

  • This position provides direct supervision to production personnel. In the absence of other functional supervisors (i.e. Maintenance, Warehouse, etc.), the Supervisor may be required to provide assistance and direction to ensure work continues and is completed as needed for the business. The Supervisor will be responsible for communicating to their immediate manager of situations that arise.
