Conagra Sanitation Manager in Quincy, Michigan

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES ( To perform this job successfully, an

individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.)

  • Comply with all company safety policies and procedures as well as complying with all OSHA rules and regulations. (THINK SAFETY FIRST.)

  • Adhere to good manufacturing practices (GMP) including proper waste disposal, attire, grooming and hygiene, etc.

  • Complies with plant Lockout/Tag Out (LOTO) policy and implements the correct procedure for the LOTO of machines operated.

  • Complies with USDA liaison to ensure that federal food safety guidelines are met.

  • Direct supervision of sanitation/operations employees.

  • Maintain sanitary condition of facility, sanitation paperwork, sanitation procedures, and sanitation chemical supplies.

  • Leverage personal and contractor support to be a technical consult/ expert/ trainer for engineering and operation team resources for sanitation processes and systems.

  • Be a key liaison working with the local Engineering team on execution, planning and engaging operations resources to minimize or enhance project impact to daily operations for all sanitation projects. Leverage appropriate CPS/FI tools for necessary data to support success criteria development.

  • Responsible for coordinating start-up and training education for all sanitation work.

  • Leverage plant facilities, maintenance departments for all sanitation improvement work requiring needed support.

  • Control costs of production, quality, and sanitation.

  • Monitor production volumes versus plan.

  • Monitor all sanitation projects and processes to ensure timely completion.

  • Maintain compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, quality specifications, safety standards and sanitation practices.

  • Active member of the facility’s CPS initiatives, working as a member of the Focused Improvement and Zero Loss Analytics Pillars.

  • Responsible for ensuring safe quality food and participate in reviewing quality metrics during routine management review meetings, ensuring monthly quality training, etc.

  • Motivate and enhance skills of direct reports and associates.

  • Other duties may be assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Minimum:

  • Five or more years of sanitation/manufacturing experience working in a food, beverage or dairy production environment.

Preferred:

  • Supervisory experience, over a sanitation department preferred.

  • Project management experience

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret engineering type documents and drawing.

  • Excellent reasoning skills – ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and make conclusions.

  • Must be able to work weekends and holidays.

  • Must be able to work second shift and rotate shifts as required.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with people of different experience and educational backgrounds.

  • Ability analyze and solve problems.

  • Ability to prioritize.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead groups.

  • Familiarity with CPS tools and statistical tools is a plus.

  • Bilingual

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee will be exposed to a noisy environment that varies from hot to cold in temperature.
